Get Ready for the Spooky Library Festival! How to Tell a Ghost Story 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. There are true ghost stories told across Florida, even in Sarasota County. But have you ever noticed that many details of a spooky story seem to be the same? Join folklorist, teacher, and author Christopher Balzano as you take a legend trip through our area to discover some of the ghosts living close to home. Balzano will then invite audience members to create their own spooky urban legend using some of the classic elements of a great, haunted tale. Recommended for ages 9 and up. Teen Room. Crafty Cookie Creations 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Unleash your creativity with our cookie decorating station. Veranda Room. Ghostly Finger-painting 12-1 p.m. Get ready to dig in and get creative with our finger-painting station! Choose from a variety of designs or let your imagination run wild and create your own unique masterpiece. Veranda Room. Games and Activities 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Test your bravery with our festive games and activities, designed to challenge even the most fearless among you. Writing contest results will be announced at 1:20 p.m. Veranda Room. Mario Kart 12:30-1:30 p.m. Four people may play at once. Sign up for Mario Kart will begin at 12 p.m. Recommended for ages 9 and up. Teen Room. Costume Contest 1:30 p.m. Dress up in your spookiest, funniest, or most creative costumes and get ready to shine. Costume Contest sign up will begin at 1 p.m. Veranda Room Ghostly Greetings 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This fun-filled photo op station is designed for those who want to take silly, spooky photos. Capture magical moments among friendly monsters and colorful pumpkins — no scares, just smiles! No Registration Required. This festival is presented by the North Port Teen Advisory Board and sponsored by the Friends of the North Port Library.
