  one of the most prolific and successful writers in the UK\, working acros
 s many different media - YA fiction\, detective novels\, TV\, films\, play
 s and journalism.  Best known for his Alex Rider adventures which have sol
 d over 21 million copies worldwide\, he works mainly in the spy\, thriller
  and mystery genres. His Hawthorne stories\, in which he appears as an unl
 ikely sidekick\, has sold well over a million copies and a sixth book in t
 he series\, "A Deadly Episode\," was published in April 2026. His three be
 stselling crime novels\, "Magpie Murders\," "Moonflower Murders" and "Marb
 le Hall Murders" have all been filmed for the BBC with Lesley Manville in 
 the lead role.  "Marble Hall Murders" is scheduled to air in 2026. Working
  with his wife\, producer Jill Green\, he also wrote and created the award
 -winning television drama "Foyle’s War."   His other books include conti
 nuation novels of both Sherlock Holmes and James Bond. He has been awarded
  the CBE for services to literature and lives in London with his wife and
